Main Title: Water

By Pastor Michael Magbag

Scripture:

John 7:37-38
New International Version (NIV)

37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”[a]

There was a time, long ago, when taking a bath was considered bad for your health. It was thought that sitting in water or washing would make you sick. (Especially on Fridays…)

Imagine if you never took a bath!

There is a European country (rhymes with “dance”) where to this day the people do not bathe much. A few years ago, if you rented a hotel room there, you would pay extra to get a room with a bath. To compensate for the lack of baths, this country invented perfume to keep themselves smelling pretty.

They tell us lots of things are bad for us, harmful to the health. The things that are good for us we often don’t like.

But bathing is probably not one of them. A long hot shower, or a refreshing dip in a pool, a swim in the ocean, or a soak in a hot tub with bubbles cleans and refreshes our human bodies.

What about our souls?

How do we wash our souls?

“Washing in the Word” is what clean up our souls. Don’t forget the let the Word of God wash you, refresh you, invigorate you, exercise you, and make you whole. Let the Word be your shower, your bath, your swim, your relaxation. Let the presence of Jesus by the Holy Spirit activating the Scripture to you be the source of all wholeness and cleanliness.

Wash yourself in the cleansing Word of God!
